Ghana produced an emphatic 4-0 victory over South Korea in Florida on Monday to ensure they depart for the World Cup in Brazil in high spirits.

“That was a good friendly game, we really looked like a team,” said Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.

In previous warm-up matches Ghana had not looked so convincing but this victory will give group G rivals Germany, Portugal and the United States pause for thought.

“You learn from your mistakes,” Appiah said. “But I do not care about the result. It is important to me that we are as well prepared as possible. “If my team had lost by four goals, perhaps that could have helped me identify errors still to be fixed before the World Cup.”

The only downside for Ghana was striker Abdul Majeed Waris picking up an injury which forced him off the pitch shortly after the game started.

But the side is now gearing up for the challenge in Brazil and is determined to meet the lofty expectations of the fans back home.

“We must become world champions,” midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng said. “The whole continent is waiting for an African country to be champions for the first time.”
